Also known as the Windy City, Chicago is the third most populous city in the United States, and the most populous city in the American Midwest. Incorporated in 1837, Chicago was created near a port in between the the Great Lakes and the Mississippi watershed. Today, Chicago is an international hub for commerce, finance, telecommunications, transportation and industry. Chicago has been made famous in pop culture through various art forms such as songs, novels, plays, films and theater.
